Long Time Favorites – skin care

I’ve been passionate about skin care for many years. When I lived in Malaysia I started experimenting with my own beauty mixtures.  I read few books about cosmetic ingredients and that led me to conclusion that not all “natural” ingredients are good for my skin.  As much as I love “clean beauty” and I shy away from ingredients that can disrupt the  lipid barrier  of my skin (as a consequence fasten the process or aging )  I do not think that all chemicals are bad .

My skin is rather sensitive, from normal to dry and I’ve never had any major issues with it. Even though I don’t have the same skin care  routine all year long there are prodcuts that I’ve been using for years  and always  feel the  need to have them in my cosmetic bag. I would like to share with you some of my long time favorites. I focused on products  that I’ve been using for years and are available in the US.

ROSE CERAMIDE CREAM

My skin really loves rose extract. Most cosmetics with rose work like a miracle on my skin. Urang is a Korean clean brand  targeted towards dry and allergy-prone skin types. This cream is  enriched with high-quality rose floral water paired with rose blossom oil and skin-protecting ceramides. I love its yogurt-like texure and that it is quickly soaked up by the skin. You can see that Rose Water is listed as the first ingredient in this cream. It beautifully moisturizes my skin. I love using it during a day.

ROSE DAY CREAM

This is my old time friend. I have used this cream in different climatic zones, different seasons and when my skin felt really irritated. Because of its thick texture I prefer to use it at night during spring and summer. It soothens redness even caused by  long sun exposure.  This is my must-have skin care product.

ROSE BODY CREAM

I love the smell and  texture of  Dr. Hauschka products.  This Rose Body Cream smells like herbs mixed with roses. It’s very hydrating and it  provides harmony and stimulates your skin’s natural protective function.

REVITALISING MASK

I love using face masks. I usually use Revitalising Mask  before big events. It leaves my skin hydrated but not greasy. I usually leave it in on my skin for 20 minutes, rinse it out and voilà : ) . Perfect start before make-up.

It Contains

Quince seed, anthyllis and chamomile extracts, nurturing jojoba, apricot, kernel and wheat germ oils.

ROSE CLEANSING BALM

There are few cleansers that I like but since this post is about my favorites  I want to mention my favorite  Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm. I don’t like when the product dries out my skin and makes it tense after washing. Elemis Rose Balm is very gentle and smells like a bouqet of roses.

HYDRATING MASK

This is another good mask from Dr. Hauschka.  How is it different from Revitalising Mask?  I usually use it at night after a long and tiring day. I do it before sleep for 30 minutes or more if I have enough time. I always apply it on my neck and décolleté. After using it my  skin looks and feels supple, fresh and smooth.

It Contains:

Quince seed extract, nourishing almond, avocado and jojoba oils, rose wax.

HYDRATING ANTIOXIDANT

My skin loves antioxidants like Vitamin C and E. This Vitamin C is not as strong as some different ones that I know  but  I like using it in the summer time. You can use it before applying make-up on your skin. Sometimes I apply it only at night.

THERMAL WATER

I always choose face mists or thermal water that do not contain any alcohol. Alcohol cause driness  but also  disrupts your skin lipid barrier.

SUNSCREEN UNDER MAKE-UP

This  SPF is perfect under make-up sunscreen. It is not a cream I would choose before long day at the beach but I use it daily all year long under make-up. It is very difficult to find SPF that looks good under your make-up. Most products are either too greasy, too white, too matte or with pretty bad texture. This one is different – it  feels great on your skin, I love its texture and it protects my skin all year long.
