So your hair is thinning, brittle and at its worst condition? I’ve been there too. I’ve decided to cover this topic in one of my first posts mainly because I’ve experimented a lot with different treatments and I’m happy with my current hair care routine.
There’s no doubt that genetics play a key role in determining your hair texture and thickness of your hair. We all want those glamorous locks we often see in the movies but not all of us have the same base to start with. Nevertheless good hair care regime can improve the the appearance of your locks. I went to the hairdresser after few months of quarantine. And guess what happened ? He bleached my hair without informing me upfront. My hair became weaker and extremely brittle. After almost three months of hair care regime I see visible improvement of my hair condition. In this post I would like to cover some of my favorite tips to make a transition from brittle and processed hair to shiny and definitely healthier locks.
- Take a break from heat tools. I know it sounds rough and impossible for some but definitely worth an extra effort. It takes time to regrow and rebuild a structure of your hair. When I’ve stopped using heat on my hair I’ve noticed significant difference in hair texture. If skipping out on blow drier is something you can’t live without remember that good heat protector is a must. My favorite is Kerastase Thermique and Olaplex number 6. And that help us to move to the next point. Is Olaplex worth the money? Does it actually work.
- Olaplex treatment. I’ve started my Olaplex experience with Olaplex number 3. I haven’t see huge results after finishing up first bottle but I gave it another try when my hair was at its worst condition. I used this treatment at least once a week. Olaplex gives some build up to your hair and as a result protects it from environmental damage. Having some positive results with Olaplex 3 made me buy Olaplex 6 and 7. They work perfectly together. It all depends what is the level of your hair damage. If it’s medium I would skip number 3 and bought number 6 and 7.
- Protect and hydrate your ends. When you stop using heat tools your hair most likely look messy and undisciplined. By using special oils and serums on your ends you’re helping your hair to stay hydrated and protected from sun exposure and environmental pollution. My favorite products are Olaplex number 7 and Kerastase Elixir Ultime.
- Try not to die your hair for some time. Another mission impossible for some but remember that you can always use a toner to slightly refresh the color of your hair. Kevin Murphy has a great line with color treatments at home. It works like conditioner – hydrate your hair and makes it shinier but does not cause unnecessary drieness.
- At home natural treatments. You probably heard that your hair shaft is largely keratin – fibrous protein. If you’re lacking protein your hair is getting weaker. I really enjoy experimenting with natural home made treatments. My favorite one is a mixture of egg yolk with lavender oil and few drops of lemon. Essential oils are great for your hair. They smell amazing but also help with your hair growth. Mix few drops of lavender, mint or rosemary essential oil with your favorite base oil and massage your scalp. Make sure that you are not allergic to any of the above mentioned ingredients as essential oils can cause irritation.
- Always remember to hydrate your hair. I know it sounds cliché . When your hair is dull after using a hair mask it is most likely caused by the product you used. I use shampoos that are made for damaged and color treated hair. They are more gentle and often protect your hair texture from UV exposure.
- Balanced lifestyle. Good diet filled with nutrients, enough amount of sleep, yoga exercise that supports the work of your blood circulation, body massage and less stress can significantly improve the growth and general appearance of your hair.
